5 Ws in Preschool Education
In Only-child era, modern family pays much attention to preschool education and would like to invest more on their children. However, without the guidance of correct education ideas, parents may find it difficult to get what they expect. Below is 4W1H concept of early childhood education for parents’ reference.
Concept Ⅰ: Time Window (When)
Different time window will be opened for each child in different stage of growth, if a child can get proper education within the time window, he will get twice the result with half the effort. For example: language learning time window for a child is 0 to 6 years old, and the earlier the better. 0 to 3 years old child can learn mother language, 3-6 years old child can start to learn a foreign language. Older than 6 years will not be the best age to learn a language. It is best for a child younger than 3 years old to develop his sense of music. Parents should try to let the child to listen to all kinds of classic music. The best time of a child to learn painting is 3-4 years old. And for mathematics, a child doesn’t necessarily need to be taught before 9.
Concept Ⅱ: Parents are the Best Teachers (Who)
Some of the parents are so dedicated to their career and leave their children to the kindergarten to get all education a child need, some parents send their children to boarding kindergarten and see their children only one or two times a week. These children can get lots of bad habits due to the absence of the family environment and lack of parents’ affection in the process of growth.
Concept Ⅲ: Playing games is the Best Way to Learn (How)
For a child older than 3, he knows what he likes and dislike. Cultivating a child's interest in learning by teaching through lively activities is the best way. In daily life, many things can be learning toys such as food, ladder and other household objects. Only if the instructor is innovative enough and knows how to take advantage of common stuff and teach a child.
Concept Ⅳ: Nature is the Best Learning Environment (Where)
Nothing is comparable to the nature in enriching the knowledge of a child and arousing his curiosity. In addition to access to all kinds of plants, animals, geography, and other knowledge, a child can also get better contact with the society, learns to communicate with all kinds of people.
Concept Ⅴ: What to Learn is More Important than How to Learn (What)
A child should take more quality education rather than learning knowledge in preschool period. Setting up correct values is more important than reciting Tang poetry in this stage.
